There was just tis question 2 days ago and several guys that had done that exact swap commented...

They DO fit. Most all later model wheels are a direct swap to a C4 88 & later. Earlier <87 require spacers.

ANYTIME you buy aftermarket wheels...know the back-space or offset. That is what tells you how far the wheel sits off the hub. Learn the factory offset then you know what to buy,. But in this case being late model vette wheels they should be fine.

Absolute worst case is having to use a spacer/adaptor...$50 extra per wheel. not a big deal.

May want to check the cost of those 18 & 19" tires first. That was enough to scare me away.

The fronts could be assumed to be a fit, if they're from a base car 8.5 wheel 56mm offset. The rears if we assume a base car I'd say are 10.0 79mm offset and if you were wanting to use "off the shelf" adapters you would buy a 1"/25mm adapter/spacer. You actually need to confirm the specifications that should be cast/stamped on the wheel back side.

The rear tire is likely 1" or so taller so there's the speedometer to be re-calibrated. You're giving up likely 1" width in the front, need adapters for a "quality fit" and the speedometer calibrated not to mention in the future there's NO tire rotation. $1000 plus the required? Maybe something to think about!

Good point. I looked through my shop manual and couldn't find what the offset is for 1988 17" wheels. Does anyone know what it is or where to look it up?

I found a Corvette Fever article discussing offsets and what wheels will work on a C4. Good read here. Looks like the 88 has a 56mm offset.

Here's a reference for C4 wheels that's as good as it get's. It's been tweaked a bit through the years and is "very reliable". I've exchanged some information with Joby regarding it.

THIS. My friend's C5 has 18s up front and 19s in the rear from a C6. He's still dreading the day.

Before buying any wheel, do A LOT of research! I spent many days (or weeks) getting the wheel sizes and offsets correct and it is no easy task. I am running 18 x 9.5 +50 and 19 x 11 +55 and they fit perfectly with no wheel poke AND they clear my C6 Z06 brakes. Use those sizes and offsets as a reference and you won't go wrong.
