Trying to clean out the gear drives inside the wiper motor. Even though I have a service manual (written by morons.) It does not give specific instructions on how to remove the wiper motor shaft from the retaining ring:
Do I need to force it out?
Is it threaded and needs to be loosened and if so how without damaging the surface?
The motor and all its gears work fine, I just want to do some preventive maintenance and repack the gear housing with new grease so I don't wind up having to replace the gears down the road.
Any help would be appreciated.
I've been wondering for a while what the inside of my wiper motor looks like. I would think it's dried out grease after 27 years. It's a good thing it seldom rains in Southern California...
