I installed a new 2 1/2 Y pipe and 2 1/2 flowmaster mufflers and my question is will I get better performance if I get rid of my high flow cat? Someone told me that when using a 3 chamber flowmaster you get better performance when you lose the cat.
It depends if you want to be emission legal... :D Lossing the cats, perhaps more performance, but isit that drastic, I'd be bold enough to say probably not... my humble opinion.
If you are looking for a little more growl , I've always used the 2 chambers lef the cat s in... on my 95 and 96 Iwenttwo chamber and lost the resonator...
I have the 3 chamber Force II's installed right now. (no cats at all)
It has less deep rumble/bass than when I had the 3 cats. Performance? Uh....I did so many other mods at the same time that I can't accurately answer. It does flow/breathe alot more freely tho!!! L98's like that. You don't mention if you have a LT motor or L98 or ??

Re: Flowmaster 3 chamber question (89 Paul in Cal)
I have a 87 vette. L98, the mods I have done are tpi air foil, open air lid with k&n filter, throttle body heater bypass, air pump removal, stage 2 fast chip with 160 stat, high voltage coil, bosch 4 plugs, shaved the heads a little when I blew a head gasket. I have no pre cats, just the high flow that connects to the rear y.
