Default LT4 knock module questions

Helping a fellow forum member and need some input on this topic. I'm not as familiar with LT1/4 cars as L98's so here goes:

1. Can an LT4 knock module be used in all '94'-'96 cars?
2. If used in '94-'95 cars, does the knock sensor need to be changed to the '96 sensor?
3. Anything else we should know?

Thanks for your help! -Jeff

We put one in a 94 Z28 LT1, and it did not need a new knock sensor. Just plug in the knock module and go!

It is a direct replacement, no need to change the knock sensor itself.

Jeff,

It can be used in all '94-96 model Vettes. Nothing else has to be changed. Some find it to improve false knock, and unless someone has false knock there is no reason to change over. ;)

Well, he's installing a Hot Cam and 1.6 rollers along with an Extreme Duty chain set so we though it would be a good idea. Do you agree?

Thanks Chris and everyone for the input!

He may want to try it without it if he has the means to check if he is getting false knock (Diacom, Freescan, etc). Otherwise, it is only $30 and will most likely not do any harm.

(I do know one person that lost power due to the LT4 knock module, but that was on a blower car)

Funny that you are asking that question Jeff - I will be calling you to order one myself. Hopefully you have them in stock...

Jeff, you looked up the knock sensors for me a few months ago and found that the LT1 and LT4 had the same part numbers.

Yes, they are the same for 1996 but the '94-'95 LT1's are a different P/N than the '96's. -Jeff

I disabled my knock sensors. Now all they do is keep the coolant in.
