I have a 1996 coupe and urgently need some assistance. Pulling the hood release lever only releases the passenger side of the hood. The driver side remains latched. I assumed that the cable had just stretched, so I attempted to pull the cable farther from within the interior to no avail. I looked from under the car and couldn't locate the cable. The summer has finally broken here in Buffalo and I'd really like to change the oil in my car, so that I can enjoy the weather in style. Any help in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem when I took delivery of my Vette two years ago. The MAD hood opening tool worked like a champ. I now carry it in the hatchg, just in case.
Push down on the hood when you are releasing it. This will take the pressure off the latch and it should release as long as your cables are just stretched and not snapped.
One more thing you might want to try is moving the car to another spot if you can. The spot you are in can be flexing the car and holding it shut. Good luck.
