I'm a new member and this is my first post. I just bought my first Corvette. It's an 85', 78K miles, white w/red leather. Everything seems to be in good working order except for one thing. The drivers side head lamp goes up fine when I turn on the lights but when I turn them off it gets stuck about half way. I can get out and knudge it by hand and it'll go down all the way. Is there an adjustment for this?
Here is a great tech tip, it's the one I used to do both of mine. The first one took about 2 hours, the second about 30 minutes. They are both the same but on the first one I went very slow and careful until I knew what I was doing. As 65Z01 said, Ecklers and MADVET have the replacement kits and they are $4.95 each.
Good Luck and remember to be patient and take your time. :smash:
Oops, I didn't pay attention to your year :bb If it's the gears, check Ecklers P/N: 39975 $39.99. Make sure you check the gears before you order new ones.
The project isn't too bad and doesn't take too long to complete. If I were you I would seriously consider spending the extra money to replace the gear set with the brass "upgrade" set. The original gears and the $ 39.95 replacement set are both nylon or some similar material and will likely go bad again before you are ready to tackle this project again.
I replaced both sides of gears in less than 2-hours on my 85. By a Haynes manual for that car casue you will need it to help pin-point problems and help with repairs.
