I bought a HyperTech Stage II chip from an '87 Vette on E-bay for $50. I could use an '86-'88 chip as we have similar ECMs, cold-start injectors and MAFs.
I realy didn't expect much and wasn't disappointed.
Don't expect much if any gain from a chip. Between your MAF, an AFPR and a fan switch you can save some $$.
Anyway, what year Vette is the chip from? Since you're '89 is the last L98 year with a MAF but is the first year w/o the cold-start injector I think you will need a chip from an '89 Vette only.

89 has a different cam and heads, an 85 chip will not run correctly in your car
