My infl rest light has been on for awhile. I found a procedure in the archives to correct the problem. It appears the most common problem is corrosion on the right front sensor due to moisture from the ac. Well sure enough the code points to the right front. I took it off and it was just slightly corroded. I sanded all surfaces and applied dielectric grease. Now the problem, I have tried all procedures mentioned in the fix to clear the code with no luck. Any suggestions? Could the sensor indeed be bad? Is there a sure fire way of clearing the code? Tia!!!

Re: INFL REST (9TZR1)
Just to be sure, you didn't put dialectic grease on the contact surface did you? It is meant to go on the outside of the connection to prevent moisture entering. Sorry if I'm stating something you already know.
I found that with clearing the code your timing has to be spot on, if you mis-time the clearing procedure, the codes won't clear. From memory, if the sensor is faulty or you haven't cleaned it properly the light should still go off briefly when you clear the code - but it will come back on very shortly (within a few seconds) after you restart the car after clearing the code.
If you haven't cleared your code 26 yet you might try this. I tried clearing the code 3 different times with no luck. Yesterday I changed the count to 1001-1002 and it cleared the first time. Good luck.
ok..finally got the code to clear. However, it came back on within a few mins. I am getting code 16. That is the left front sensor. I cleaned it well, could it actually be bad? Where is the best place to buy one?
Thanks!
I had a similar problem on one of my 90s. I used a multimeter to measure the sensor to ground resistance before I put it back together. That way, you can be sure you have good ground contact to the frame. I also put lock washers between the frame and sensor for positive contact. Once I got the right ground resistance reading, the codes cleared the first time and stayed clear.
Be sure to disconnect the DERM cable from the yellow sensor cable before testing. Be careful and only test the SENSOR side. Don't grab the wrong cable and get the DERM cable. Applying the muntimeter test voltage to the DERM could set the air bag off.
