4+3 question
my friend has an 84 with the 4+3 trans---when he puts it in reverse it slips like the clutch is slipping but in all forward gears its fine. from what he says --this slipping got progressivley worse over time--but only in reverse--?????? anyone have this experience.

Check the overdrive fluid it will look like 90 gear lube were it mix with 90 lube and atf.The carrier bearing is trash and seal is broken between the 4speed and od unit.OD drive is done,SK SPEED has all the parts and rebuilds them.

Can try , talk a year back was that Brian was selling all their 4+3 parts and getting out of rebuilding them

replace the 4+3
I have the 4+3 and it is OK, but for the money, I should have replaced it with a 5 speed.
If you go with a O/D rebuild, I think it is about $2K and there are upgrades you should ask for to bring it to 1988 specs
