Am I over Revving?????

Default Am I over Revving?????

Recently got my first C4 1995 Lt1
It can fitted with a Corsa Cat Back exhaust!
when I nail it the RPM's peg the Guage at well over 7000 rpm (est)
is this normal??

Is you car an auto or manual? If it has the stock tune there is no way it will rev anywhere near 7k.

Automatic...
it goes well over the 6000 rpms which is max on the tach..
at least that's what the tach shows

What does the tach so you idle at? I bet your tach filter has gone bad.if yours is in the same place as mine it is by the coil. The po of mine cut it off because he "didn't know what that strange looking was" my tach said my idle was at 2k

The factory tach is not very accurate at high rpm


THe only way to truly know how high its reving is to pop on a datalogger

You would have hit the rev limiter before you hit 7k.

If it goes to 7k very many times you will eventually have to pull over and walk back to pick up the motor pieces that you left on the pavement.

Only if its stock! However, if its stock there's no way its hitting 6k let alone 7
