Default 84 Power Window Regulator Issue

I took the top off my 84 for the first time last saturday. While going to a breastfeeding class with my gf, my drivers power window was going up and down funny (it always has an issue unless the door is open due to pressure).

So I assisted it all the way down, and I believe it came off the ribbon. Does this sound like what happened? Now the window won't come up even if I pull up on it, but the motor still operates because I can hear it.

Two questions.

Did it come off the ribbon?

Or is the ribbon broke?

Or somethng different happened?

Sounds like you answered your own question. Window regulator or in the Vette Ribbon Stripped or Broken.
Ive seen em here somewhere cant remeber right now and in an upgraded design pretty cheep.
Not really a problem if u park it in a Garage. My 85 sits with both windows down and the top off all the time
unless ur gf complains about her hair getting messed up to breastfeeding classes

Lol. I like your response, mang. Well it's like this. I want to fix it eventually, obviously. But you just reinforced my logic of fixing it can wait, because having the top off and windows down is awesome. I don't drive my vette much. Mostly on weekends, and I keep it in the garage when I'm not using it.

The only time it would be in the sun for an extended period would be when I take it to work for the day.

Does the sun beating down on the leather make much difference? Is it going to damage my poor saddle colored leather?? lulz

I would never bring mine anywhere that I would have to park outside. If u do man anything can happen Even birds can crap on the inside and the sun dries out everything but only a few times anit gone a do anything
Havent done one yet or even pulled a door panel on mine but the Power Window Regulator Ribbons r under 20 bucks If thats what it is and u can just feed-em in. Counld be that bad.

I use it. Thing is, I couldn't find anything for my specific problem. I even read that thread. Thank you, though.

I called my local O'reily and Advanced Auto. Oreily was absolutely no help, and treated me kind of like a moron. Advanced Auto was cool, then again, they know me in there, as it's right down the street from my shop.

Anyways, in the Dorman brand they sell a the motor with a 9 tooth or 12 tooth "gear". They don't sell it seperate. But they have it in stock in the store. Does that 9 tooth or 12 tooth gear sound like the ribbon everyone online is referring to?

And if so, is it the 9 tooth or the 12 tooth one?
