1993 6 sp - Chatter/Engine Bogs acceleration
So, for the sake of taking care of some neglected maintenance I figure it is probably time to change out the rear end and transmission oils in the hopes that this will resolve the issue. If not it is my belief that this still needs to be done.
After reading numerous post I'll either go with Redline or Amsoil. Couple of questions. First, how do I know if I have a LSD rear end? If so do I need to add a limited slip additive?
"Dana Corp says that the factory oil is adequate, but synthetics are superior especially when heat is an issue. A limited slip additive should always be used. Gear oil should have a GL-5 rating and a 75w-140 or 75w-90 weight, with 75w-140 being the preferred weight should always be used"
Second, what are you recommendations for actually changing the oil? Last time I attempted this w/o a lift was on a Porsche 944 and wound up wearing more 75w oil than I managed to get into the rear end and had to bring it to a shop to complete the job.
Thanks
Paul
