A fuel filter is less than $10. You could have gotten a dud, it does happen sometimes. I would triple check that the fuel filter is in the right way, than buy a new one and see what happens.

I'm no expert at all so this might be stupid, but theoretically swapping the fuel filter could get air stuck in your gas lines right?

Depending on how you swapped the filter, did you use anything to plug the lines which could have left debris in them?

Eliminating all the known problems may help before throwing parts at it. You may be onto something. Car is also fine until you put it in driver where the fuel demands increase far beyond just idle. If they are the stock injectors, they aren't praised for their bullet proof operation. Check them out as well.

The Cat is cleared out. and I just found the issue today.. One of the spark plug wires has a divet in the coating and i seen when it was dark out when it was acting up it the spark was jumping from the wire to the cylinder head. Moved the wires and electrical taped the divet in the wire and it ran fine. New plug wires are ordered.
