Yes you can "re-curve" the timing but not using weights and springs. The chip in the ECU controls the ignition advance so to change requires a chip change. There use to be aftermarket chips that were compatible with a stock engine and re-tuned the fuel and ignition to give a little more power. Not sure if those are still on the market, if not you can find a tuner that can burn a new tune on a chip for you.
