locate the main fan relay,rear of fender driver side.

As you can see, ground terminal B DARK GREEN/WHITE and relay energizes and closes D-A
Put a switch to ground to terminal B and you can start main fan when you want

When I bought mine the previous owner had cut the blue/wht wire from the fan relay to the ECM and directly grounded it so that the fan came on as soon as the key was turned on. I would not recommend that approach as it keeps the temp too low.
Cut the blue/wht wire and install the switch between the wire from the fan relay and to a ground point. Tape off the end of the blue/wht wire that goes to the ECM.

Exact the same way to go...mine is an 85, but at the end just a relay ground to switch manually to ground...
