I have a 1984 vett that runs rough. It feels like a miss when you get on the throttle. If you go real easy on the gas the car will not hesitate at all. also, when I get on the throttle i will get A backfire through the engine not the exhaust. can any one help me.

Classic sign on lean a/f ratio, and/or timing.
Check your ignition timing...check you fuel pressure.
I'd suspect a vacuum leak. The top plate of the cross-fire manifold is a suspect area. There's a bunch of bolts in this area, and the gasket surface area of this plate is pretty skinny. Try tightening these bolts before you replace the gasket.
