88 AC liquid side extension valve
.....I have an 88 vette, etc etc using refrigerant R-12...I have a liquid line high side refrigerant leak at the service port/valve that i just seem to not be able to fix!
....I have in the past, obtained some 'advertised" valve stem (schrader) tools(s) to attempt to tighten the valve and they are either too thick to go into the valve housing or, won't go in far enough to grab the valve! I had to use a pair of tweezers to tighten it the best i could. It is hard enough to locate the correct valve core and further, to tighten same.
...I am looking for a "screw-on" adapter - really an extension of sorts to place over the valve which should then be able to stop the leak and provide access when charging, vacuuming, etc.
.....Does anyone know of a source with part number for same? And, while i am at it, a replacement schrader valve that actually fits?...THANKS AGAIN for any assistance.

Good luck.

Good luck.
....Thanks for the reply.....
NOPE - i have many of these and have had similar and with the same results i have mentioned...looking more more and EXTENSION VALVE ADAPTER so i don't have to be returning tools that simply don't work...Thanks anyway.
**Additional;
Currently, checking out the following two items and send an e-mail to company since i don't know the darn size and thread of my liquid line.

Maybe you need to cut the slot a little deeper in the tool.
Thanks for the reply.
....I had problems getting the original valve i replaced in and tightened (see original post) and i now believe it could have been leaking for a long time. It is also very reasonable to believe that the NEW valve core could be bad and i had already thought of that.
......However, the problem still remains that i i need the proper and correctly fitting tool to do this. If i cut the slot in the tool deeper and use it and it somehow breaks off in the port, i may have trouble extracting it as well as the "still leaking" valve.
....Then, there is the matter of the thickness of the tool itself. I think i decided to go with the extension adapter for the port and i have an e-mail out to a company on this. I just have to find out the size/thread of that high side liquid port.
Screw this adapter on which converts the fitting to 1/4 flare so
your R12 manifold hose will work.
It has has a schrader valve depressor so you don't need to remove
your current schrader valve.

The link in my "quoted" post does work! I've been told maybe it's my "non-conforming" web browser that I have problems with the eBay links. Don't know - don't care!

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
anyone? I'm gonna leave it alone for now...
Anyway, many of the tools for the schrader valve are NOT drilled in the center to allow the valve pin to have a hole to go in to when you place the tool down in the valve...so it cannot reach the sides with the tongs..the needle prevents it from going down far enough.
Look at the various tools and you may even need to stop by a A/C supply shop to find a good tool. There is no reason to screw the valve that far in...if it won;t seal at the normal depth..it won;t seal down there in the basement either.
I've had bad valves right out of the box. It may be the valve, may be the threads too.
Use great care...those a/c high side hoses and aluminum lines are NOT cheap.
AGREED..(PS CAPS ARE NOT YELLING)

THE TOOLS I HAVE OR HAVE USED HAD A HOLE DEAD CENTER - THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE TOOL WAS NOT THIN ENOUGH TO FIT INTO THE "CORE" HOUSING THUSLY, NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCESS THE CORE OR, WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH TO ACCESS THE "SIDES" OF THE CORE TO BE TIGHTENED.
the needle prevents it from going down far enough.
IN MY CASE, THIS IS/WAS NOT THE ISSUE.
Look at the various tools and you may even need to stop by a A/C supply shop to find a good tool.
I OPTED FOR A HIGH SIDE ADAPTER TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM AS WELL, IT WILL BETTER ENABLE ME TO USE THE STANDARD R-12 1/4 HOSES.
There is no reason to screw the valve that far in..
NOBODY SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. I WOULD "DROP" THE CORE INTO THE HOUSING AND IT WOULD "SEAT", HOWEVER, AS WE ALL KNOW, IT NEEDS TO BE TIGHTENED AND THIS IS WHERE I AM HAVING THE ISSUES. I CAN TIGHTEN IT WITH TWEEZERS BUT, POSSIBLY NOT TIGHT ENOUGH AND SO, THE NEED FOR AN ALTERNATIVE AS EACH TOOL I BOUGHT, TRIED, OR RETURNED HAD SOME ISSUES AS STATED ABOVE.

SEE ABOVE STATEMENT

AGREED - I EVEN HAVE A SPARE HIGH SIDE HOSE SET AND I EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THAT ALSO.

AGREED - I AM NOT NEW AT THIS. THANKS FOR THE REPLY.
