Default Help HELP Help.. 89 L98 Running Rough

Hey all I really need a bit of help from the forum. I pulled my 89 out of storage about 3-4 weeks ago (1.5 tanks of gas since) and everything seemed fine at first. But for the past week or so the car started surging @ highway speeds. At the time I though it was throttle cables or maybe the TB needed cleaning. It is worth noting that the problem was worse when hot. I do have long tubes and a small backfire that I believed were related. Once reciently at full throttle on the highway the car did stumble but the problem didnt persist.

Well Now I got a real mess. Driving home last Friday the Engine was warm but not hot (195-200F) and all power dropped out. I was able to put the clutch in and restart the engine but it idled and wouldnt respond to throttle. I heard load backfires and some pinging/knocking

I got the car off the road and let it cool a bit a few times. Cold it would run normally maybe an extra long period of time cranking off the starter but its starts. It would be drivable but not more that a couple of miles (>5mi). Then it would "splutter" studder pop and die. I got it towed home. Filled it up with Mobil 1 93 Octane (I usually use high octane) and a bottle of techron fuel cleaner. I figured it was gunked up fuel injectors. Figuring that was it I ran the car @ idle just enough to warm the engine and get the fresh gas in. I did an ohm test on the injectors and I believe they passed. (confirming with a good meter not my cheap HD one). As I unstand they should be in the Range of 17-20 ohm's?? can someone confirm.

I believe I have Bosch 3's that were replaced in the last 3 years. Also could someone let me know how to tell if I have factory? I didnt see any branding on them

Part 2:

Im now am thinking the EGR is the culprit but really i dont know. I found a OK write up (if you have a great one on hand I would appreciate it) on testing & ill do it today or if I run out of daylight tomorrow.

Is there something else I should be looking at?

Have I seriously damaged the car? (<--nervous)

Should I bit the bullet and buy the three parts to replace the EGR (Temp sensor, Solenoid Valve, EGR Valve) or it is likely just the valve?

All advise welcome here. Im pretty stressed out over this

& thx for reading I know it was alot

Update #3 cylinders fuel injector ohm 3.1 so that one is bad. Can that be the sole source of my problem?

Also no check engine code

All 8 injectors are connected in parallel. If one is shorted then none of them will work. Sounds like you found it.

Next step: Call Jon at FIC:
