I have a 1984 Corvette with manual transmission. I want to set up the TBIs. I have downloaded the software and thinking of buying the cable.
Most important to me. Does this software help me set up the motor? If it does. How do I use the information it will give me?
Can I use the software to change parameters. Or do I need something else to tell me how to adjust the TPS. can it modify the ECM?
WINALDL will give information from the sensors. O2 readings, IAC, engine speed, temp, etc. Its a nice scan tool. It will not reprogram the ECM for you. With an 84, Im not sure whats available for that.

so is it worth the 60.00 cost of the cable. Is this useful information
thank you
It is worth it. Check and see if Tunerpro RT will work with the 84. It will scan and allow you to reprogram the tune. Tuning on an 84 is a bit different than the newer cars so Im not sure how do-able that part is.

Start with WINALDL first. Search for a Tunerpro ADS or ADX file for your 84. If you find it, you should be able to log with that. You will need an XDF to burn chips. That presents a whole different hardware problem though.
People that are serious about tuning CFI engines generally upgrade to a later ECM like the ones from early '90 TBI trucks that are much better supported in the tuning community

The ECM program is in EPROMs on these cars. The only way to change the program is to remove the EPROM, erase it and put in new parameters with an EPROM burner.
The ECM puts out a series of hexadecimal bytes. You need a definition file for your year and ECM that tells the scanning software what the bytes mean. The order and meaning of the bytes changed from year to year.
i'm not a CFI guy,but the limit of your ECM is the low support it has. There are not hacking for your specific .bin file.As just told, without .bin ,.XDF,.ADX file you can't use TUNERPRO RT to edit parameters into your .bin file. It'is simply an unsupported hardware. What you can do:
1)if you'r going deep into modifying your engine why don't consider to grab a TPI intake and an 165 ecm with wiring from a salvage?TPI with 165 ECM (86-89) open the doors to a world of new opportunity about tuning.
2)As told later TBI truck used improved version of your TBI (CFI) injection system down in the first 90's,if you find support on specific forum like wiring repinning ecc.you can find some stuff like this.
3) There are some aftermarket throttle body injected EFI ECM that use simple software and programming device you can use on your CFI C4,this is entry stuff but do his job,in this case you have to spend ... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fst-30226-kit
depend on how serious you are about modifying ...cam,heads,...

Oh my gosh a very informative post thank you. I thought in order for me to go TPI I would have to change the accessory locations. All I want is for the car to run properly and reliably
thank you
