Default Maybe the fuel pump

Hi every one is me again. at this time iam working in new carpet for the vette, iam doing all my self. taking a lot of picture for when iam done post them here.

Back to my question. If any body had been Reading my post about poor preformance.

you know I whent to hell and back. I have learn a lot in this last year about this motor. just to mention some of the stuff i have done.

Change injectors, fuel filter, set timing, finaly put the distributor where is supposet to be, fix some issues with compresión. some valve leaking,
new sparkplugs and wires, an so much more. i dont remeber everything right now

even do the car is working much better. I feel poor aceleration and power when I step on the gas.

I remeber once i remove the fuel sending unit for inspection and the filter was all dirty, i cleen it up but the unit it self look all rosty including the pump.

I was thinking maybe the pump is old and is working but not at full capacity. may be when I step on the gas the pump dont have what it takes

any way to tell if the fuel pump is not sending the necesary fuel the car need.

By the way i did a fuel preasure test. on idle. looks good at the time. this was like 6 month ago.

any sugestion is welcome

all you need is a fuel pressure gauge.. but that may not be your issue.

Don't take this the wrong way but you should make friends with someone who is a mechanic or hire one to get your car right. Then you can enjoy it and start learning from there.

welcome back hitmanpty. i enjoy reading your post wth your broken english. i admire you for trying your best in a foreign country with limited parts availabity. iread on here somewhere that your problem could be a dirty "sock" in the fuel tank.

under starting and idleing conditions the sock will allow enough fuel through. when you accel and the engine needs more fuel the sock will not allow this, thus causing the engine to starve for fuel and poor performance. you might try a search for dirty sock? good luck!

Hit man, tape the fuel pressure gage to your windshield and go for a ride.
watch that the pressure does not go below 40 PSI.
If it goes below 40, pull off the vacuum hose on the fuel pressure regulator and put a screw in the hose for the next test drive.
Now with the screw in the hose, the pressure shjould go up 5 PSI at idle. If it does, but the test drive shows low pressure again, the sock is either partially plugged or the pulsator in the tank is leaking fuel when the pump is running.
The pulsator is the metal thing right above the pump on the sender tube.
If the pulsator is leaking, you can replace it with a piece of fuel pressure hose (high pressure hose) and two little hose clamps.
If the fuel pressure goes up after doing that, the pulsator was leaking. If it does not, the sock is dirty.
THe sock would keep the pressure low above 2000 RPM.
