4+3 overdrive switch need part
does anybody know where to get the overdrive switch in the shifter for an 87 & the 1st & 2nd gear switch on the transmision? i know the shifter switch is bad but i am not sure about the other switch . are there any other eletronic things to look for? thanks for any help.

Newark electronics p/n 61F753 for the momentary action switch used in '86 and up. With a little rewiring, the 61F752, the push on/off type used in '85, can give you total control over the OD. Good news, the switch is only $11 (momentary), $7.50 (on-off). Bad news, you have to transfer the harness over from the old switch and solder it. Not that difficult if you know which end of a soldering iron is hot. ;)

What you want to do after soldering the wires to the new switch is take a hot glue gun and cover the soldering joints and about another 1/2" of the wires down. This will prevent the shifting motion from putting stresses on the solder and snapping them off. (I learned the hard way.)
