I have a 96 LT1 with 24K and I have run through the reset sequence as outlined in the owner's manual, but my light remains on. Please do not tell me about the timing (5 seconds, 10 seconds etc) as I've tried it probably 30 times now without success. What I fear is a problem with my info center/digital speedometer module. I do have the flashing SYS disease, I have tried checking fuses, changing the battery etc but probably 80 percent of the time, it still flashes. Could the sys problem be the reason why I cannot reset the change oil light? Otherwise the car runs and is absolutely perfect. I can live with the SYS flash but the change oil light is annoying. Does anyone have any suggestions or tricks short of buying a new module? How do I get at the LEDs to remove them? Thanx in advance for the help.
Re: Another Change Oil Light Problem. Help! (ConnLT1)
Hello,
Saw this in my 90 trouble shooting manual.
Chart #24 page 8A-82-20
"Change Oil" indicator always "ON'
Disconnect Central Control Module (CCM) "Gray" Connector
Ignition "on"
Does indicator turn "Off"
If yes, try procedure, and I know you've heard that.
If indicator still stays on-replace CCM.
If NO
Check for short to ground, Circuit 1941 If not shorted repair/replace instrumet cluster.
With the SYS flashing, sounds like CCM.
Do you have the factory service manual. If not, best to have one cause finding all this stuff requires location diagrams etc.
Let me know if you need some numbers for Helm INC.

Thanx, I've been putting off getting the manual. Looks like shouldn't wait any longer. I would appreciate it if you'd post the numbers/info where I might be able to buy it.
