Why are my front calipers loose???
Hey everyone, I have a pretty nasty rattling heard through the front end of my 88 coupe (Z52 suspension). Upon looking for the problem, I found that my calipers are loose in their mounts. I looked through my Helms Manual and saw that there should be bias springs on the pads. To the best of my knowledge, these springs wedge themselves between the pad and the mount, thus dampening the rattle. Could this be??? 2 little springs on the pads keep the caliper securly in its mount??? Or am I missing something else? Thanks alot!!!

Thats correct on the springs but if they get week or missing it'll rattle. Also check your caliper pins to make sure they are not worn out. Mine rattle a bit now but it's due to the spring being weak and the brake pads I have fit a bit looser than I would like.

Scared the heck out of me when I installed the C5 calipers. Thought I was missing something but forged ahead. Those pins may be loose if not worn also. They screw in and the caliper floats on them.
