Default tuner pro questions

Hello, I have a few questions before trying to get started with tuner pro.

1. My current computer that I was using for datalogging is a windows 98. It ran datamaster, but will not run tuner pro. Would something such as a windows XP be ok? I am looking for another laptop but don't want to spend a lot of money on one for tuning and data logging.
2. I have a cable but it uses the printer port and not usb. Is this ok and is there and disadvantages to using it for data logging?

Thanks for your help.

TP runs fine on 98 for me,
I have a dual boot laptop with both 98 and XP on it and TP works on both.I still use good ole Diacom under 98 so need the old laptop with a printer port on it

Did it work with DM ?
I thought ancient Diacom was the only software that works with that port ?
IIRC you will need a USB cable for TP ,that is what works on 98 for me

Diacom uses the parallel port. It has special hardware inside the cable to do the electronic magic to the old ALDL port.

I think the newer cables just run in 10K mode all the time.

But here is what tuner pro says for its requirements.

TunerPro Minimum System Requirements

1 GHz processor
512 MB RAM (1 GB recommended)
Microsoft Windows® XP SP3 or later (32-bit or 64-bit)
800 x 600 minimum supported resolution

I wonder if possibably you have an older version that works?

Yes, it worked with datamaster. I will probably have to buy the new cable.
