First thing, yes I also chuckled a bit when I wrote the title......
Anyway, I have an 85 with automatic transmission. The issue I have is the throttle pedal pushes fine when the engine is cold. As it warms up the throttle, when you first apply pressure starts to get a bit stiff. Only right as you apply pressure and then is fine until you let off it completely. It gets to the point where you have to apply enough pressure to the pedal to get the car to roll from a stop that it will lunge forward a bit as the pedal gets past the very first part. It is not sticking just stiffens up. I assume something is expanding when engine warms. Any ideas? I was thinking of using some silicone spray on the cable and throttle linkage but thought I would check here first.
Maybe the throttle plates binding? Might want to try getting it warm, disconnecting the cable at the TB and try operating it by hand right at the TB. Then you can narrow it down to TB or cables/pedal.

When it's hot try disconnecting the cruise control cable and the TV cable (don't drive it with the TV cable disconnected!!!). With the engine off, try the gas pedal and see if this reduced the effort required. If all goes well, reconnect one of the other cables at a time and retest.
This will isolate the problem so you know what to work on.
