Default Soleniod plunger diameter

I dropped my starter and cracked the plastic end on the solenoid. It is an 84 with a full sized remanufactured starter. I had a solenoid, but the plunger diameter was 1.1 inch instead of 1.2. I tried a few different manufacturers solenoids at O'Reilly's, Most were 1.1, some were bigger, but none big enough to allow the plunger to be inserted. I looked at buying a cheapo solenoid and swapping the caps, but the heights of the caps look different as well.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Ken

Take everything that you have to a local re-builder (electrical shop) and just explain your looking for the "economical fix". They should understand and be able to accommodate you. I don't understand your having that kind of difficulties but from your description you seem to understand the assembly procedure. Have you considered just replacing the "plunger"? That's separate from the yoke. The re-builder should understand and it should be a good experience I would think. Post back!
