Re: GM OBD-I scanner (Blue 92)
That's an AutoX-ray scanner and it works fine. It won't read ABS or Climate control or suspension codes. Check with AutoX-ray to determine what it will read on your car.
I have not used this product, but I have Diacom software. The only problem with the hand helds is that they only show one senors data at a time. Once you use a full screen laptop product the hand helds just don't do much. I have seen a few ads now for the PDA's(if you need a hand held). I sure that will replace the hand helds soon. You can scan the car and check your email. :D
I agree with CL....once you've seen a screen full of data displayed simultaneously anything else is just a disappointment. :nonod:
I've had great luck in dealing with Andrew at AKM cables and Gary at TTS/DataMaster for the software and connecting cable. When I was researching OBD-I scanners the DataMaster program looked like one of the best and the OBD-II software was only $95!
The bad news (for us C4 guys) was that they had written the OBD-II software first. The good news is that the OBD-I program is in Beta test and is supposed to be released soon. Both AKM and TTS are listed on the web and more info can be found in the "ECM/PCM Tuning" section of this Forum.
If anyone can't find the links to their sites just let me know. Good luck, I think you'll like what you see. (The only problem is that you have to buy/borrow a computer to run it.)
That's good for error codes only. Good software (Diacom) will give you all kinds of information about the performance of your motor.
true, just get Craig Moates software and an ALDL cable (40 bucks) and you can watch everything in real time if you have a notebook.. that's what i'm going do to

Looks like the Craig Moates software won't work with the LT1?
This is the "Craig Moates Free GM ALDL 8192-Baud communications" program. It's designed to work with GM's TPI systems with the 1227165 & 1227730 ECMs. That covers 1986-92 MAF and MAP systems, but not TBI or LT1 applications.
