I found out I had 24 lb. injectors instead of the 30 lb. ones we spec'd out. No big deal, I've got two days before drag night, I'll just whip that sumbitch off, swap 'em and throw it back on. After all, it's only the FIFTH time I've done it!
Only it's the FIRST time since I used the permatex gasket-in-a-can to whip all those vacuum leaks in the bud.
I can't get the box off the runners! AARARRRRRRRRRRGH!
I've gone so far as to lift up on the airbox with the engine hoist and no amount of pounding, convincing or hammering screwdrivers between the runners and box will get it to let go!
I've never done a SR r/r but a trick I use to seal gaskets in tight places is to put a coat of antisieze on both sides of the gaskets. It helps seal it up really well and it makes it very easy to remove later on.

good tip, committing that one to long term memory! :yesnod:
The fourth time I had to pull my Super Ram, it went to the For Sale section and I ordered a Mini Ram.
Nah, it's a street car, I'd rather have the grunt down low...show the Ricers what they can never have. :nono:
Besides, it's a Zen thing. I'm just glad I hadn't given back the hoist I'd borrowed. I don't know HOW I'da got it off without 150 lbs of constant upward pressure -- or more...it was unloading the wheels.
I don't mind the Superram, it just takes patience...and it looks hella cool! And if I never have to do this again, it'll be too soon.
S'funny tho' I went from hot functioning motor to runners off, injectors out in about 4 hours. Reassembly'll be a snap. (And I'll use a thinner bead of gasket, I got a little crazy the first time
I figured youd have the snap on 12 pt, 1/4" ratchet wrench. I hear it's the bizzomb whenit comes to installing those upside down bolts...but _I_ don't have access to a Snap-on truck. :p:
Still, I had to hunt down a Matco truck to find a 1/4 inch 12 pt wrench. You'd be AMAZED just how rare they are. ($17 + tax, zing!)
With all of theis difficulty, why not heli-coil the runner and run the bolt from the plenum? You can even get some nice button head stainless bolts to negate any of the turbulence for you VERY meticulous guys!
Just my opinion!
Cheers,
Robert

I thins the (very slim) concern there is that a bolt might back out and fall down a runner.
Really, the bottom is NOT that bad, the inner bolts go in fine when you slot them and pull them up with a screwdriver. The back bolt on the driver's side is easy if you remove the distributor cap, and the others just take time.
