What kind of @#!$*&^*###! designed the combo A/C water pump mount with bolts that are so hard to access?
I will let the PB Blaster work its magic over night and hit it again in the morning.
I decided to change the water pump since I am in there anyway and now am thinking I might have been better off leaving the old one on.
I am in the process of changing the TPI over to an LT1 intake and installing under drive pulleys and an air pump delete. New lower radiator hose too.
And, gaaaaack! What a greasy, nasty, dirty area to work in. Gonna roll her out in the driveway and hit it with some degreaser and a power wash when I get it apart.
My "fun in the garage" is turning into a "why the freak didn't I buy a C6 that only requires waxing, fueling and making payments"?
There. I feel much better.

This is the offending bolt/bracket. You can see where the belt tensioner attaches at the lower end of the bracket.
Gotta work on basement repair today (Spring flood). Don't have much time for the garage today

Thanks for the encouragement

I discovered that the nut that I was reefing on with the box end wrench in the picture is welded to the bracket. Guess I should have looked at my FSM a bit closer (embarrassed).
I sprayed this nasty/funky/filthy area down with some orange degreaser I got from Auto Zone. I will let it soak good and then hit it with a gas powered power washer that I can borrow in a few days.
Before pic for now and I will get an after pic when all cleaned up.
I'm not feeling the love with these rubber fuel lines that connect between the hard lines. Is this even safe after 22 years?

With the gas powered, power washer, you don't even need the soap. The power washer will clean that thing. It'll look brand new.

HEY WAIT, a clean car is a happy car. clean it, and you will see how much easier it is to work on when it gets happy

...and installing under drive pulleys ...
I suggest the March cast Al pulleys. I used their under drive crank & over drive alt pulleys but didn't see any HP gain. I"m thinking the lower rotational mass of cast Al might just show some power increase.

Sometimes I take things apart just to clean, paint, and polish them. Take your time, and do it right, you'll be a lot happier when you lift your hood. h
