I've had my car for 3 weeks now and there is something that has me perplexed. The previous owner 'installed' an emblem that bears this, "Z07-5.7L" Anyone know what the Z07 stands for? I'm well aware what the 5.7L is, but can't figure out Z07.
The Z07 stands for the performance handling package consisting of FX3 adj suspension, J55 HD brakes, and I think the Z51 HD suspension. All in all its a much stiffer suspension than most vettes have.
I do remember asking the dealer that I bought the car from about it. He said Z07 was the $1600.00 option that allows me to select the ride handling. I thought that's what FX3 stood for. Heh...I'm still learning all about this which is fun :)
Is Z07 and actual RPO code? If so, I'm guessing the only way I know for sure that I have it is to check the RPO codes listed. Are they listed in the center console that opens?
I'm sure that the car does have it. The dealer I bought the car from sells and services only Corvettes and has been doing so for many years. He's very knowledgeable about any year of Corvette.
The Z07 package was available from 1991-1995. It is essentially the Z51 package from 1984-1990, coupled with the FX3 adjustable suspension. Since your car is a 1990, it cannot have the Z07 option. To see if it has Z51, look under the center console door -- there you will find a white label that lists all of your car's RPO codes, or Regular Production Options. See if it lists "Z51". If not, it most likely says "FE1", which is the base suspension. It could have "FX3" though, which was available separately in 1990.
The Z51 package in 1990 included heavy-duty shocks and bushings, 13" front brakes (RPO J55), bigger front and rear sway bars, engine oil cooler, and power steering cooler. Z07 was this stuff plus the FX3 adjustable suspension.
Fast90, the Z07 is the RPO code. you should find it on the build sheet on either the console lid or the storage cover lid. If your baby has it ... then welcome to the club!

So, I have all the components of the Z07 package, but the RPO code itself won't be listed because it wasn't available until 1991? And, yes, it does have the Z51 package :)

Yes, if you have both Z51 and FX3 on your 1990, then essentially you have what was called Z07 in 1991. But it wasn't called Z07 in 1990... :p: ;)
A new option, RPO Z07, essentially combined the previously available Z51 performance handling package with FX3 selective ride/ handling. But there were differences. In 1990, if FX3 and Z51 were combined, some base suspension components were used to provide an adjustable suspension range from soft to firm. The new RPO Z07 option used all heavy duty suspension parts so the ride adjusted from firm to very firm. Intended for aggressive driving or competition, Z07 was limited to coupes.
ps - Z07 was available with manual transmissions only.
