Working on a friends 95 LT-1, picked up the car to put on ported heads, 1.6RR, headers, etc
The car had a service ARS light on shifting at 28MPG and then 55MPH( late).....car had a code 22; low TPS voltage.....any thoughts if this is the driver of the issue or should I be looking for something else. I did find out the worm gear for the air bridge clamp had been acting as a throttle body stop, causing poor acceleration but this issue came back up after correcting the issue.
Normally I would check the sensor with a tech 1, but I do not have the adapter for the 95 OBD port
I'd check the TPS voltage going back to the PCM. Incorrect feedback on throttle position could lead the computer to miscalculate the load and delay upshifts. (I assume you meant 28 MPH vs. 28 MPG)
I know from personal experience that issues with the TPS will cause the ASR to disable which also causes the transmission to go into manual vs computer controlled mode.
My 96 LT1 did the same thing.. Turned out to be two broken wires to the TPS. Found the first one when I unwrapped the tape and it was broken in half. The other drove me crazy. It was broken at the TPS connector, but the insulation was still intact.
