Default CFI brackets with a TPI intake...does it work?

Quick question...looking over the brackets on my '84 CFI I am wondering if I will need to swap brackets out once I complete my TPI swap. Anyone know for sure 'yea' or 'nea' on this? It all looks the same to me but I have to wonder if the air pump in the middle if the brackets at the top of the motor will be in the way of the CAI intake where it meets the TB?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

When I changed mine from cfi to tpi I change the front serpentine brackets because the belt routing for cfi ran where the tpi throttle body goes.

Anyone know for sure what brackets I may need? Were there any differences between early and late TPI brackets and their respective accessories?

Thanks,

Lee

I just found a complete tpi serpentine set up on ebay for a couple hundred bucks so then I had everything I needed fairly cheap.

Varies by year ;
early style for the large Harrison A/c compressor like yours
Late ('89+ ? ) for the more compact Denso compressor same as used on the LT1's

Okay, thanks for that info, Vetteoz. I appreciate it. Looks like I am in need of '85-'88 bits!

I've seen a conversion that use the stock serp set up, they ditched the air pump though. They used a wiring harness (like a stand alone harness) that used a map sensor & an air cleaner that clamped on to the throttle body.

I'll have to look that up. Thanks! I also was wondering about ditching the air pump and just measuring for a smaller serpentine belt? A few options to explore...my budget doesn't allow for a few hundred dollars for a set of brackets so I am looking at anything that seems like a legit possibility.

Thanks again, everyone, I do appreciate your ideas!

Take a look at my engine pictures in my profile, you'll see how low the belt runs, I also added a remote p/s reservoir too, so you could make up a new upper alternator bracket. I haven't done that yet. The reservoir was from a chevy van, I made a bracket for it & mounted it to the fan shroud.
