Water Pump Drive Frt Cover Seal (LT1) Lip position
All
What's the proper way to position the lip of the black seal on Water pump drive seal that's installed on the front cover?
Since it has two seals that make contact with the drive shaft, should the black rubber seal (not yellow) lip face the front of the car or towards the engine?
I have the proper seal tool that apparently prevents the seal from tearing but I'm not sure how to position the lip of of the black seal.
It seems to want to face towards the front.
Thank you for your help.

Black seal lip goes toward the engine. If it was outward facing, it would leak oil. The yellow seal part is more of a dust/dirt protector that
just touches the shaft. The problem people seem to have sometimes on installing the seal is letting the black seal lip flip backward on the shaft. With the seal tool that shouldn't be a problem but it should still be checked or it will leak.
