Fuel Issue

Sometimes my 96 Vette wont start, but then if I loosen or take the fuel cap off, it starts right up. Is this a sign of the fuel pump going out?

When you take the cap off, can you hear a big inrush of air when this happens?

You might try cleaning the cap, or replacing it. The vent could be plugged up.

Fuel pump is a likely suspect, but do the basics first like changing the fuel filter. If the cap was bad I would suspect you'd have a check engine light on. How is your fuel milage? Have you noticed a drastic change? Also see if you ECM is holding codes.
