I read once this post from someone with this same problem with the rear speaker:
"Bose/cd/cassett/AM/FM. I am suddenly getting this screeching, clicking, drilling sound from my right rear speaker. It doeesn't matter if the engine is running or not, it happens with the cd/cassette and the radio. The sound is LOUD and not effected by the volume control. The only thing that stops it, is to turn off the radio."
n called my attention because one of the rear speakers on my 92 coupe just started doing exactly (and I mean exactly) the same thing.
Someone posted this answer:
"This has to be the amp, no question. you can take it out yourself,
unscrew the speaker cover with a phillips
then a 9/32 nut driver for the enclosure
need a small flat blade to work the clip on the connector, unplug it..
pull the whole thing out (it WILL come out even thought the carpet seems in the way..
then unplug the to wires going to the speaker
use a phillips to unscrew the amp from the mounting
Send it to DR Don (elsewhere on this forum) he'll repair it for $65 + shipping and guarantee it"
Can anyone tell me how to get a hold of this Dr Don??? or someone with a good reputation that I can send this in to??

Re: Rear speaker screech (2UHONEY)
Dr Don's : http://www.doctordons.homestead.com/
Just go out and get new amp's. Replace them in pair's. ie rear's,front's.
Or better yet, go to mid-america and get the whole enclosure, speaker and all.
And remember if it Blow's it's got to be a Bose.
You should have posted this in the Audio section for faster response.
Replaced every single amp on my 90 coupe. Think I've heard every sound they make, to include, hiss, pop, squell, intermiittant sound, loud buzz tone, and various obnoxious sound levels.
If you know someone with some experience in circuit repair, probably a $2 resistor. Check the forums tech area if you are interested in fixing your amps.
Well, the same thing happened to my 92 about 4 months ago. I took the amp out and replaced all of the electrolytic capicators on the board. For less than $10, I salvaged the system. I'm not quite ready to replace the system with an aftermarket... yet. It's a little of a PIA (the epoxy on the board isn't easy to pry away), but I thought it was worth it. IM me if you want details.
Thanks to all you guys for the help.
I'll try DrDon, I dont think I have the patience to replace capacitors and soldering .......not 18 anymore
