My antenna has a little kink in the middle that I almost got straight but It still won't go all the way down. Any ideas on what I can do without buying another one?
if you replace the whole thing, have fun with the actual antenna wire. i put the whole thing in tonight and it was a little challenging. i still need an adapter with 2 female ends so i can plug it in.
Replace the who thing...I tried to replace just the mast and it went in ok but never did work the way it was suppost to..kept hanging up....sticking ... finally changed out the whole thing....wasted the money on mast.....the hardest part was finding the plug end of the ant/motor... it was located under the molding toward the center of the rear window.. once I found that I tied a wire to it pulled it out and used the wire to pull the new on in...was able to reach everything without removing anything else... good luck
go visit the tech tips on how to remove the entire unit.. you can then take it apart on the ground and service the nylon ribbon that moves it up and down...
Once you buy your new mast you're essentially urinating your money away (in terms of the performance life of the mast) if you just opt to thread the new one in there without first opening up your motor to remove any broken bits of ribbon that prevent it from retracting and erecting properly.
I'll lay good money THAT'S the reason your mast isn't operating properly from the giddy-up, and this is coming from the cat who wrote the TechTip lest you think I'm just a green meanie who's frontin!
