Trouble Codes? I don't know how to get them?

Trouble Codes? I don't know how to get them?
I have been reading posts about trouble codes and I don't know if I have to take the car in to get them, or is it something that I can do myself with a tool or meter at home. Thanks Forum!

I use a paper clip as a jumper.

Parts stores like AutoZone will pull codes for no cost. They will also offer suggestions on how to fix problems. If you do get the codes from places like that, post them here and members will help you through the needed repairs.
