Default Hopefully bulletproof

After blowing my planetary gears on my 4l60e twice in 3 months, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a Rossler Terminator 3 race transmission. It has some options that hopefully will hold up to my full race schedule. Willie

Looks like a 700r4 shell. Who knows what could be inside it though. I'm betting that the internals are not made of bubble gum and rubber bands though.

How much did that cost you? I am going to need either a rebuild or just a new trans in general soon as it's starting to slip shifting into 2nd at WOT with the manual valve body I have on mine.

Thanks guys, hopefully it'll hold up. A 4l60e looks pretty much the same on the outside as the 700r4. You can tell the difference by the connector terminal on the passenger side. This was ordered with a hardened input shaft, upgraded sprag, slightly deeper 4l65e pan, and the Rossler mods inside that supposedly should make this thing hold up to 8 second runs (not that I am near that).

What shifter are you using? I have been looking for a ratchet shifter that will work and not look terrible from having to hack apart the center console.

I'm using the stock Corvette auto shifter. The advantage of a 4l60e is that it is computer controlled. During a run, I leave the shifter in drive and the TCI controller shifts the tranny according to the parameters inputed by my laptop. My shifts occur at 6600 rpm and do not vary unless I change the settings. I lock up the converter after the 1-2 shift and the car runs very consistantly which is great for bracket racing.

Yup, still a 4 speed. I shift into od after I cross the finish line and am off the throttle and the converter unlocked.

I used to race with a friend who had a 9 second bullet with a Rossler tranny..... he broke everything else on that car at one time or another, but never that Rossler transmission.

I think Rossler knows how to build transmission ! Your purchase will probably will prove to be a great choice !

I'm curious to know why you didn't go with a 2-speed if this is an exclusive track car?

Maybe someday. Next would be a Turbo 350 or 400. This car has been an evolution. It started with a 4+3, then a 700r4, and now a 4l60e. It was easier to make these small changes than a radical powerglide move. I was able to use the same converters with both the 700r4 and the 4l60e which made things less expensive. Also, the rear gears have been the same for a while (4.35) making for an easier transition.

I was really thinking of going with the transbrake, but I just sunk some $$$ into a Strange quad rear brake setup and it is working well. I'll probably regret it in the future.
