Default Getting new clutch

Ok,

Basics,
What do I need to get? I normally wouldnt ask, but, i see conversion kits? dual mass? stay away from aluminum flywheels?

I need just a good clutch for a intake/exhuast car. I dont want to resurface, as Ive heard bad things about doing that,

I want to know,
What do I need to get for the shop to make a switch?
Clutch, Flywheel, and everything that comes with a clutch kit?

What has anyone had goodluck with and bad luck with? Ive run spec stg 3's on other cars, but they were way more built than this.

This is a weekend car, so not too worried about the harshness of a stiff clutch. Just want something close to stock feel, with better grip and less travel. Also dont want to spend way too much, as this car isnt too modded.

What should I get?

I would go with a SPEC Stage 1 clutch with a Steel flywheel (with extra mass to prevent noise).

A lot of people have gone with Carolina Clutch and have great success too.

If you're wanting to maintain that "stock" feel, then the first thing is to make sure that your DMF is still in spec in terms of movement, I believe 32mm, and that the seal is not leaking. If it is good in this repsect, then simply get a stock replacement disc and pressure plate. I think the '93 has the "black tag" so you will need to specify this when ordering the kit to get the proper release bearing.

The DMF cannot be machine resurfaced, however, it can be sanded smooth with maroon scotchbrite.

If your DMF is out of spec, then the choices are to either find a good used one, or convert to SMF. I learned after my conversion that zfdoc sells a countershaft shim that takes the rattle factor out.

Either way Zfdoc.com and Jim Jandik at powertorquesystems.com have been valuable resources to me and many others on this forum.

I have had great experiences with the SPEC clutches and flywheels. I like the stage III
some people like a little more stock feel than that. I like the feel and performance of it. You need to replace the flywheel at the same time. I bought a centerforce for a 95 trans am I used to have and I took it out and threw it away after 2 or 3 months. go with what you know. You liked your spec before.
