Just remember, you need to pay attention to rim width too.
Rim diameter and width will determine what size tires you can put on it.

Year and wheel sizes are the determining factors. Tell us about wheels if other than stock and the best tire choice should be on the "tire placard" that's on the drivers door with the certification label. There's NO 315/40 tire for the C4 -

I'm sure he meant 315/35 17 on a 17x11 wheel. I believe 285/40 17 is the widest for a 17x9.5 wheel? See link regarding 285/40 17's.

Go to the Tire Rack, they have a chart that shows the height and number of rotations per mile each tire has... You want to pick tires close to the same ratation and height for all 17" wheels...One example is my car takes 245-45-17 on 8 1/2" rims and 275-40-17 on 9 1/2" rims, both have the same number of rotations per mile and the same height.. .WW

Those must hook up a little better in the rear.

I was wrong. I am blind.

I am running 315/30R18 in the rear of my 87 and 275/40R17 in the
front. I had copied it down wrong.

Must pay more attention to details as this rules out his 17” tire information.

I run 285/40R17 up front and 315/35R17 in the rear. I love this combo!!!!! I use OE wheels ZR1 style wheels-17x9.5 front and 17x11 in the rear. It drives very nice this way. Some people say it will follow the "ruts" in the road but I haven't had any problems with that.
