Default Fob will not program

Fob will not work . After doing what is said to do in the owners book the passive keyless entry will not flash and when I bring the Fob back in range it will not program the Fob. Is there another way to program the Fob.

On my 93 it was the battery. Replaced it and it took care of it.I know its usually not that simple!

The owner's manual for my 1995 says the following:

To match transmitters to your vehicle:
1. Move all transmitters out of range.
2. Turn the ignition key on.
3. Push TRIP ODO on the Driver Information Center twice.
4. Within five seconds, press and hold FUEL INFO until the PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY light comes on.
5. Turn the ignition off, but leave the key in the ignition. The PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY light should begin to flash to show the system is in programming mode.
6. Bring one transmitter into range. The light will stop flashing and stay on to show that the code is stored.
7. Move the transmitter out of range. The light should start flashing again.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 with each additional transmitter.

Steps 1-5 are intended to produce a flashing PKE light and do not involve the transmitter, only that it should be physically "out of range." So if you can't get the PKE light to flash by following steps 1-5, I doubt the problem lies with your transmitter.

Also I don't know what year model you have so I'm not sure if your owner's manual outlines the same procedure. Hope this helps.

Just bought fob for my 1993 I can get the pke light to come on following steps but goes out on last step turning key off. Light does not flash as stated for programming I've exhausted all of my options. I can't find a solution or a simple answer. Good luck
