Default New Trans Selection

My transmission blew.....again..... I have decided to buy another trans with a budget max of 1600. Was looking a couple places and wanted to get a opinion on my choices.

Monster Trans: http://www.monstertrans.com/store/pr...-Case-2WD.html

Maddog Trans: http://www.maddogtransmissions.com/4...lash-4l65e.htm

Trans depot: http://www.transdepot.net/4L60E-GM-T...e-2_p_223.html

Trans Depot is local to me and I have already been by to discuss the Stage 2 setup since I am rebuilding a tired L98 to a 383 with AFR 195 heads. They seem like great folks and the shop was very clean.

One thing to note, I will be taking them my tranny to rebuild so the price is slightly less than what they advertise since they will not need a core ( they dont charge a core) - my main reason for doing this is the tailshaft is different on the Vette and they cant promise a Vette core is used to do the reman otherwise.

I believe it is just unbolt and rebolt - probably want to change the real seal at the same time.

A quality well built heavy duty transmission should work well, i am running a turbo 700 behind a supercharged 383. Have snapped half shafts but the trans is still going strong, now have replaced the aluminum half shafts to steel half shafts.

It is pricey to make the transmissions withstand the punishment, is cheaper to spend a couple of thousand once than replace a one thousand dollar trans three times.
