Idle suddenly too low - Help needed
I guess reading the book works. I turned to 6E3-C2-5 in the Service Manual, "If the IAC valve is disconnected and reconnected with the engine running" (I think my son may have done this a couple of days ago as he was looking for possible vacuum leaks) "the idle speed may be wrong. In this case, the IAC valve can be reset by doing the following: depress accelerator pedal slightly, start and run engine for five seconds, then turn ignition 'OFF' for ten seconds.
I did it and when I restarted the engine, the idle went to a solid 800 rpm. Turning on A/C raises idle to 900 momentarily then settles back to 800. The service manual paid for itself again today!
Original post follows, but please disregard [except for an 'Attaboy or two for going to the book]

Well, we were planning to take the '89 to a wedding this afternoon. I pulled it out of the garage to give her an "Instant Detail" in the sunshine and my idle has disappeared!
I have to give it throttle to keep it running after start. If I take my foot off the gas, the idle will quickly drop to 500, then 400, then 300 then the fire goes out. If I do coax it to keep running at 4-500 rpm and switch on the A/C, it instantly dies.
With me crotchcart, I would just reach down and give the idle screw a twist. I have no idea where to start on the 'Vette. Perhaps send it in for some psychoanalysis? There are no codes logged. Warming it up thoroughly made no difference.
I was sure hoping to drive it to the wedding today and maybe even the XXX barrel in Issaquah tomorrow, but I don't want to take the chance with that idle so low. The engine could die while coasting and I could lose steering. Not good!
Help? Please? I have a couple of hours before we leave.
