replacement transmission
If anyone knows where to get a new transmission I'd like to know where to get and howmuch they cost. I am pretty sure I can install it myself. Or maybe even some advice if it would be better to rebuild it or even try a used one. I would like to keep the cost down and compare the overall cost of new or rebuilt. Thanks inadvance for your help!
I just ruined my stock tranny the other week. You may recall reading about it. I called many places and talked to many tranny shops.
By far the best deal around was Pro-Built Automatics. They offer a 1 yr warranty, even when racing is involved! Cost was almost 1500 shipped!
I checked the http://www.thirdgen.org tranny section and all there is are praise for their trannies.
Call Dana their and talk with him. I don't really know the guy other than talking with him. He is building my tranny now. Tell him "Jesse" sent you. You will probably have to tell him that he is doing my tranny for my 89 now, so he knows who you are talking about.
All in all, I think he will do a very good job. He takes all your cars information down. Such as cam, rear gears, etc. Then he taylors the tranny to your car.
Here is the site http://www.pro-built.net
Let me know how you make out!
Also the tranny is pretty easy to get out. I can do it now in about 1.5 hrs
