I got my temp gauge to work! Where is the needle supposed to sit at normal operating temp? This looks a little high to me?

I got the radiator out and cleaned up along with the condenser. They weren't as bad as I thought they would be. The lower radiator hose looks really difficult to get to, even with the tensioner off. Not 100% sure what I'm gonna do there. Also I pulled the t-stat housing off to find there was no thermostat! So I got a new thermostat and gasket installed tonight..

That's higher than mine normally is. You can get a digital temp to display through the HVAC display. Press and hold the up and down buttons until you see "00" appear. Then use the up arrow to scroll to "16". Push the center button and the temp (in Celcius) will be displayed. Prior to my 383 the digital temp would rarely get much above 90C. Now if I get caught in traffic it will climb over 100C. Yours looks even higher than that.

Awesome thanks I'll try that. I thought it looked high. About to attempt the lower radiator hose now. Its not as easy on my 91 as it is on the LT1..

Finally got the lower hose changed last night. I also did the temp on the hvac display and its around 83-85°C when the needle is in that position in the pic above. I didnt allow it to go past 88 while on the ramps. I'll take it off tonight and drive it to make sure the system is bled properly and stabilizes. The needle still looks too high to me though..

Alright my coolant temp gauge is stabilized and pretty sure the system is bled. My HVAC temp reading is about 86 Celcius while cruising and about 91 sitting still with the A/C on (stock everything except 180* thermostat). That was a short drive at night so it could be a little different during a hot day but I could clearly tell when the t-stat opened up and it stayed at 86 until I pulled into the driveway. Does anyone else temp gauge read as mine does? It just looks higher that I would think it should..

next project is fixing the tach and fixing my right blinker....
