Default VATS bypass

Does anyone know where the connection is, and what color the wires are, to enable a VATS bypass? I've read the Tech Tip, and still cannot locate the wires mentioned. If it makes a difference, my car is a '91. As always, thanks, in advance.

I really don't know what I'd do without this forum.

On my '87 the connection is on the run on the steering column. They are two yellow wires with their own connector. Pull the panel under the column and you should be able to find them.

The wires from the contacts of the ign sw that connect to the pellet come down the steering column on my 87 and the 2 pin connector is under the carpet by the steering column. I don't know if they are in the same place on a 91, but you can defeat VATS by unplugging that 2 pin connector and clipping a resistor the same value as your pellet onto the wires going over to the passenger side. If you have a bad ign sw, then get it replaced as 99% of all cars are stolen by bashing the column and jumping the ignition. I know someone who came out of work to their C4 with a busted window and column, but the car didn't budge. I've read the same thing here, so if you want to keep your car, keep your VATS.

Hello,

Was rooting around my steering column on the 90 coupe couple weeks ago. Suspect the wires are the same, 90v91. Look for two very small white wires. They look identical to each other, no stripes, etc. It should be a very small square connector down near the base of the steering column where the column is supported by the dash. I had to remove the hush covers, knee bolster, etc to gain access however they may vary some. Look around where the plastic piece protects all the wires coming out of the steering column. You may have to just start moving wires around till you see /find what should be the two smallest wires coming out of the steering column. Assume an uncomfortable, contorted position, start cussing dash work, break some impossible to find fittings, drop some tools in your face, I'm sure if you follow my formula, you will find the darn connector. Let us know.
