Default I Need Help Please

Hi I don't know if I am doing this wright or not, so here go's.
My name is Teddy and I have a 1994 Vette. At this time I am haveing a lot going on in my life, most not to good. I need help from you all. Last week I took my Vette out for a short ride. This was after I washed the engine, I was carefull not to get the optispark wet. On the way home, I just went five miles, it started ot rain, flash flood type. Made it home and after about six hours I went out and tryed to start my Vette. It would not start. It still will not start, only backfires. I thing that the rain water might have gotten into my optispark. The thing is with the cancer I have and the money matters I am faced with now, I do not have very much money. What I am asking is; is there someone that lives in the Boone NC aera that would be willing to help me to determin if it is the optispark that is bad or something else. As I said the cancer I have and the Chemo and radiation I have just had has left be in a weaken state. I am Five foot nine inches in height and only weight 101 Lbs., It is difficult for me to do anything myself, so If it is the opti I would reall like someone to help me deside if it is the opti before I start taking it off. I have no one to help me and I live alone anything that has to be done I have to do it alone by myself. So If there is someone out there that would kindly help me I would be most greatfull but as of money I can offer very little. All the money I get goes to medicen , Chemo and food.
I have not had much fun with this cancer and I would like so much to at least to ride a little in my Vette before I get worse. I have always helped others in my life and will do so now as much as I am able to do so. It is difficult for me to ask you all for help but I know Vette people are a family of themselfs, and I sure need some help.
There is so much more I would like to say, to get all this negativity off my mind but I am feeling very ill now.
My address is;

288 Dakat Ln.
Boone, NC
Phone # is;

Health, Love and Happiness always.

Dang - makes me feel lucky to have the few problems I do. I am no way as bad off as you are.
Post something up in this "events and regional" section:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/southeast-42/
Simply state: "Cancer patient needs help with C4 repairs -- wet Optispark problem".
No need to post your e-mail or phone either as any responders will be able to send you a private message.
I'll bet a few brothers will volunteer to help.
Good luck and my God bless you!

At this point you can figure the optispark will need to be replaced. I don't know if it is realistic but I'd like to help. I live over 6 hours away and it took me about 2 days to do mine and I absolutely cannot miss any time from work. Maybe if a couple other members can assist we could get it done in a day. Do you have a garage or covered area; obviously if we could coordinate something like this is has to go down rain or shine.

I don't want to get your hope up too much here, let's just see if we can get some other forum members onboard.

I have brain cancer, and I would love to help, but I'm in Seattle. Have you tried spraying everything down with wd40? h

Teddy, might want to try this. Use a hair dryer on the high setting and heat up the optispark for a number of minutes. I'm not sure where the vent is on a 94, maybe someone can chime in and maybe you will be able to direct air into the vent tube. There is a chance the hot air will dry the opti enough to allow the car to run. It'll cost nothing. Good luck. Willie

I like this idea a lot! I believe a '94 has just the weep holes that vent it so there's nothing to route I don't believe just lots of heat and it may take care of the condensation or whatever it took in.

Good Luck!!!

The vent is shown here in the picture. It's the tube looking thing sticking out of the opti at the 2 O'Clock position. It is very easy to get water in there, can't believe GM designed that in this manner and the opti is positioned in the picture just like it would be on the engine.

You should pull the error codes out of the computer to see what's going on.

Pulling the codes will help to determine the problem. It may be a bad ground, I would also check the coil and the coil module and connections using some dielectric grease on them including spark plug wires.

I have a 94. When I mistakingly washed the engine I got the Optispark wet. I had no idea what I had done. It was back firing and running rough. When I would drive it and step on gas it would get worse.

Did not try the hair drying idea but I did open my hood and have it sit in the sun. I would start it once a day. Each day it would get a little better. It took about a week to completly dry out. If you have no money but can wait for it to dry I think would be your best bet
