Gents - I recently completely rebuilt my LT-4 with new everything including a 383 stroker crank and an LT-4 Hotcam. The cam has .525 lift with 1.6 rockers, 218 int, 228 exh, and 112 LSA, and idles with some lope. The end result was that the car runs fine, is perfectly streetable, and still passes emission inspection (OBD2). The idle doesn't trigger any codes. This may give you some idea what you can get away with. J.T.

Congratulations on your new build. This cam would not pass a California emissions test though. Please make sure the cam, or inspection for your state are compatible. I think this would pass here in Nevada, because there's no tailpipe sniffer.

IIRC, you do write chip programs. On my powerstroke we have different settings on my chip selector. So is there a way you can write a program that will pass inspection so I can slip it in before testing and remove it after testing? Just thinking aloud. Sure, it won't have to make any power. Just enough to get you to testing and out.

Just put it back to stock for the test. You're lucky, because in Cali the CHP can pull you over, and you must surrender your ALDL port. Ticket for being modified.
Sounds like the hotcam and it will pass in a 350 in ca done it. Now that was a good 5 +- yrs ago maybe they tightened up sniffer regs since then
Youll need a good tune though

I'd be very surprised if a 350 with a Hot Cam passed a California smog check II dyno test?
They are overbored on everything.
If I were to get pulled over in my 67 and saw I had headers with no smog pump they tow the car away. 30 day mandatory hold (1000 bux easy) plus god knows what happens to it by the meatheads that work there.
Last one got the wrist pins and posi blown out of it and many parts stripped off it. Nothing you can do. This state sux.

NOT SO. google "California Smog versus LT4 Hot Cam, the results are in"; I surmise a Hot Cam in a 383 LT4 would run even cleaner than it did in my 350 LT4, which breezed through California smog.

I'm impressed, that's quite a bit of cam. I would have thought it would fail the idle, but with the ecm keeping it at 14.7 the cats must have taken care of the rest.
