Idle success!
It took me awhile and now for the first time in years there is no idle loping and inevitable cutoff at stop. I have a perfect, steady idle now. There was a big vacumn leak where the PCV extension pipe goes into the manifold. There is a soft rubber gasket/tube that the pipe goes into that basically after 28 years of heat looks like a floppy vagina and no longer seals well. I put a small zip tie around it and went for a drive tonight. I now have a perfect steady idle. I drove it on Saturday and it cut out at every stop if I did not press the accelerator a little bit, been like that for years. In all of my searching I never found this solution. Does anybody know what that part is called and is it available?

My parts book shows the hose and tube as an assembly (one part number). It's called a "Pipe, crankcase vent valve".
