c4 smog/air pump question

c4 smog/air pump question
Can anyone verify if I run a shorter serpentine belt and not spin the smog pump that it will not hurt anything? Probably only do it until I can afford a new pump... have a lot of bills right now... but if I leave all of the lines/ect. hooked up and everything it wont hurt the car right ??
The pump is making the death rattle sound and its annoying...
Just wanted to make sure I wont trap exhaust gasses or something and screw up more than its worth.
